bagman – бродяга (иногда мелкий торговец)
computerman – специалист по ЭВМ
conman – мошенник
counterman – бармен
deskman – администратор; помощник редактора газеты, литературный сотрудник
grantsman – мастер по добыванию субсидий
gunman – террорист
ideaman – поставщик идей (в фирме)
keyman – ведущий работник
legman – агент
linkman – ведущий программу (радио, телевидение)
locoman – машинист локомотива
mediaman – работник средств массовой информации
moneyman – финансист
netman – теннисист (net – сетка)
newman – мужчина, готовый выполнять так называемую «женскую» работу (уход за детьми, уборка, приготовление пищи и т. д.)
ombudsman – чиновник, разбирающий жалобы на государственные учреждения
sanman – уборщик мусора, водитель мусоровоза
saucerman – инопланетянин, прибывающий на летающей тарелке (saucer – блюдце)
vanman – водитель грузовика или автофургона
В ряде слов полусуффикс -man заменен полусуффиксом -person. Ср.: chairman – «председатель» и chairperson – «председатель» (и мужчина и женщина); pitchperson – человек, постоянно призывающий жертвовать деньги различным благотворительным фондам (часто по радио и телевидению).
